John R. Pflug, Jr., age 82, died on July 2, 2020, in Crozet, VA at Headquarters Farm. He was born in Bradford, PA, on October 19, 1937, and was a graduate of Brown University. His mother and father, Ruth McMullen Pflug and J. Robert Pflug “Bob”, preceded him in death at Headquarters.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Lynch Pflug “Carol”; his children J. Robert Pflug III “Bob” and his wife, Alison, of Charlottesville and Peter M. Pflug of Guilford, CT; three grandchildren and two step grandchildren: Morgan Montgomery Pflug Kelley and husband Jordan of Buffalo, NY, John R. Pflug IV “Jack” of Syracuse, NY, Ellery C. Pflug of Guilford, CT and Alexandra F. Lindley and Christian S. Lindley of Alexandria. John also leaves behind cousins: Annette Taylor of Denver, CO, and her daughter Emily Jacobs of Fort Collins, CO, Dr. William Taylor of Phoenix, AZ, and his daughter Juliet Russell and husband Alex of Nyon, Switzerland.
John was a talented and successful developer of commercial properties in northern Virginia. He was generous and extremely loyal to his many friends and family. John’s passions included Headquarters Farm, the property he loved and maintained since 1977, movies, music and good wine. In lieu of flowers, contributions can made be to Northfield Mount Hermon School, One Lamplighter Way, Gill, MA 01354 or Western Albemarle Rescue Squad.
