Joseph L. Watson went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2021.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alma M. Watson, and three children, Vivian L. Watson, Pamela A. Watson and Jeffrey A. Watson. In addition, he is survived by his loving sister, Janie B. Motta. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica L. Watson, Courtney M. Watson, Taylor M. Jarrell, Hannah M. Smith, Madeline M. Watson and William J. Watson, as well as eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Zella Watson, two brothers and four sisters, Roy Watson, Orville C. Watson, Betty R. Foster, Geneva F. Sharp, W. Lucille Holmes and N. Johann Bjornson.
He is remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, roller skating and playing golf. He is well known for his mastery of carpentry and for enjoying time spent with everyone he met and he never met a stranger.
He worked all his life in the construction industry and with local companies including Forloines Construction, Ron Anderson Construction and most recently with Abrahamse & Company Builders. He was an important part of these companies and was a great mentor for colleagues learning his craft. He is well known for his kindness and open heart for his fellow man.
He is deeply loved by his family and found great joy in spending time among his extended family members. He will be deeply missed, forever cherished in our hearts and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
The family has set an open viewing scheduled with Teague Funeral Service located at 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, Virginia, for Friday, January 22, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens located at 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 11 a.m.
