Katherine W Sampson

Katherine Wood Sampson, born May 22, 1937 in Albemarle County, went to be with The Lord on October 1, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Thelma Bragg Wood; her brother; Richard “Dee” Wood; her sister, Mary Anne Wood; husband, Roy W. Sampson; and her daughters, Stephanie Lawson and Sharon Fields. She is survived by her three sons, Barry Lawson and Lory Raines of Crozet, Gregory Lawson and wife, Terry of Madison, David Lawson of Galax; her brother, Montie Wood of Earlysville and son in-law Lester Fields of Palmyra. Katherine was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was an active member of Rivanna Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Frank Ix & Sons after 35 years and worked part time at Rack Room Shoes for the past 13 years. Katherine will be remembered by all who knew her. She was deeply loved and she had a way of touching your heart with her cooking. The family would like to send a special thanks to her granddaughter Christy Green and special friend Ruby Gardner for their support in the last few weeks. Teague Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Family night will be on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 5pm-7pm. The funeral will be held at Teague on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11:00am with Reverend Larry Wingfield officiating. Graveside to follow at Riverview Cemetery followed up with Fellowship and food at Rivanna Baptist Church.
