Margaret Ann Nelson

Margaret “Marge” Nelson, died peacefully on July 19, 2022 in Charlottesville, VA at the age of 83. Born in Rapid City, SD, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lola Dawson. Marge was married to Robert “Bob” Nelson, who preceded her in death, for 60 years. Lynn Anne Nelson, a daughter, also preceded her in death.

Marge is survived by her son, Stewart Nelson and his wife Patty of Charlottesville, VA; granddaughter Jessica Basham and husband Owen of Riverside, CT; grandson Eric Nelson and wife Kara of Manhattan, NY; great grandchildren Callum, Henry, Margot (namesake) and Elliot; Sisters Kathy Keating and husband Mike of Brandon, SD and Pat Kinney and husband Dan of Federal Way, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

Marge will always be remembered as a lady who was positive, encouraging, kind, sweet and who loved her family completely. She emphasized respect, listening, work ethic, education, integrity, and faith to her family. She enjoyed her life in South Boston for 23 years prior to relocating to be with her son and his wife in Charlottesville, VA. Marge was a member of First Presbyterian Church, South Boston, VA.

A graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, SD at a future date.
