Nellie Lee Sprouse Davis

Born on March 1, 1924 and raised in Free Union she was the youngest of 11 children daughter of the late John M. and Cora Thomas Sprouse. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter Sally D. Howard.

She married Jasper P. Davis, Sr. in 1942 and was retired from Morton’s Frozen Foods after 17 years of service. Mrs. Davis was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables.

She is survived by her 5 daughters Ida Defibaugh and her husband Jerry, Betty Jarrell, Ruby Kennedy and her husband Tom, Sue Cassell and her husband Larry, Mary Huffman and her husband Kenny; two sons Jasper P. Davis, Jr and his wife Diana and Charles Davis and his wife Debi; a son in law: Brad Howard, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mom had a very special friend that she accepted as a daughter, Marjorie V. Shifflett and her many neighbors and friends at the Our Lady of Angels Monastery, especially Sister Mary David.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday August 30, 2014 in the Teague Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Pat and Dorothy Mellott officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Friday August 29, 2014 at the Teague Funeral Home.
