

Nelson was born November 28, 1951 at the University of Virginia hospital and grew up in Albemarle County. He was the owner of McCauley’s Hauling for 30 years. In his spare time, Nelson loved drinking a cold Coor's Light with friends and spending time with family and his two dogs, Roni and Boogaloo. He loved getting away to his favorite place Pigeon Forge, Tennessee but most importantly, his passions were fast cars, racing and talking trash.
Nelson was preceded in death by his mother, Gracie G. Walton; father, Benjamin M. McCauley; step father, Nelson "Dick" Walton; sister Linda D. Morris; nephews, Brian "Keith" McCauley and Michael Scott Walton. Nelson is survived by his wife, Deborah D. Henry; his two daughters, Sharon McCauley and Melisa McCauley; a very special granddaughter who never left his side, Elizabeth J. McCauley; additional grandchildren, Dorian M. McCauley (Brandon Calloway) of Charlottesville VA, Nathan Carter, and Victoria Shifflett; three great grandchildren; brother, Benjamin M. McCauley (Carol) of Keswick VA; sisters, Wanda Crawford( Kenny) of Stanardsville VA and Judy "Bucky" Allen (Duane) of Barboursville, VA; a special niece, Dannielle Shifflett who shared his love for racing and fast cars; and many additional nieces, nephews, and cousins. He enjoyed great friendships with Wendall McDaniel, William Eugene Riner, Butch Knight, Ricky Pleasants, Sheldon French, and many others.
A visitation for Nelson is planned for Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville VA 22903
A Funeral Service is planned for Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Teague Funeral Service followed by a graveside service at Prize Hill Cemetery, Boonesville, VA.
