Neva Snow Shiflett

Neva Snow Shiflett, age 92, of Earlysville, VA passed away on October 6, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Albemarle County May 20, 1922, daughter of the late Guy E. Snow and Susie Gentry Snow. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Meredith E. Snow, sister, Eunice DeHooge and brother,Ray Snow. She is survived by her husband J.O. (Orvin) Shiflett, one son, J.E. (Jimmy) Shifflett and wife Betty; two daughters, Joann Anderson, and Cindy Kent and husband Wes. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeffery Anderson and wife Claire, Marty Shiflett and wife Laura, Justin Kent and his wife Jamie, Catherine Ignudo and husband Angelo, Suzy Ornee and husband Chris, Stacey Schellhammer and husband Chris, Ashley Wallace, Emily Kent, and 11 1/2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Hugh D. Snow and wife Ann, and sisters-in-law, Ida Snow and Barbara Snow. Neva was a charter member of Cherry Avenue Christian Church, a member of the special ladies of JOY Sunday School Class and a member of the Silver Chords Choir. She retired from Sperry Marine after more than 30 years of service. Mom loved to read, knit, garden, cook and take care of her loving family. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 9, 2014 at Cherry Avenue Christian Church. Her nephew Reverend Craig Snow will officiate assisted by Mr. Scott Carter and Mr. Stan Martin. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday October 8, 2014 at the Teague Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cherry Avenue Christian Church, 1720 Cherry Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903.
