

Peggy a native of Heards, VA was born on July 4, 1928 to the late Forest M. and Annie Constern Hunt Napier.
Peggy graduated from Red Hill High School. After graduation, she worked for the local telephone company as a Switchboard Operator. She married Ernest Luther Key and together they raised their family in Batesville, VA. She worked at Acme Visible Records, UVA Dining Service and with the Albemarle County Schools.
She was a long time member of Emmanuel Episcopal church, serving several years on the altar guild and folding the church bulletins.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Luther Key; her mother-in-law, Eva H. Key; her siblings, Benjamin Napier (Corine), George Napier (June), James Napier and Pauline Napier.
Her grandmother, Elizabeth “Betty” Napier, also preceded Peggy in death; a much loved grandmother, who always made sure she was dressed warmly for school.
Peggy is survived by her son, Steven L. Key (Danielle); her daughters, Janet S. Key and Annette K. Stalnaker (Bob); 5 grandchildren, David (Jennifer), Matthew, Chelsea (Seanan), Morgan Green (Chris) and Courtney (Trevor) and 8 great grandchildren, Tristan, Ainsley, Finley, Forest, Kylie, Bryson, Farrah and Eva; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a close friend and neighbor of more than 40 years, Ethel Gibson.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail Charlottesville, VA 22911 with Charley Chabot presiding.
