Peggy Mawyer Pugh

Mrs. Pugh was an active member of Mt. Ed Baptist Church, where she was known for her great cooking. She graduated from Greenwood High School and retired from CenturyLink, formerly Centel Corporation with more than twenty years of service as a supervisor and in customer service. In the last years prior to retirement, she served her company on a special team traveling to Illinois, Nebraska, and Nevada. After retirement, she continued to maintain relationships with friends from high school and from CenturyLink and kept herself busy working various jobs and being active in her church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Dale F. Pugh; and a brother, Grover S. Mawyer, Jr.

Surviving is her daughter, Karen Kirk (Michael Furber) of St. Cloud, FL; two grandchildren, Dustin Ryan Kirk and Paxton Allen Kirk, both of Earlysville; two brothers, Daniel S. Mawyer (Jackie) of Batesville and Jerry Mawyer (Luann Rae) of Waynesboro; a special cousin, Joan Collins of Charlottesville; and numerous extended family and many loving friends.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to the caring team at Legacy Hospice for their kindness and professionalism.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Mt. Ed Baptist Church, 1606 Craigs Store Road, Afton, VA 22920 by Pastor Ron Nickell. A memorial luncheon will immediately follow the service.
