
Rhonda Jones was born in Charlottesville, Virginia. She spent her youth in Albemarle county through high school. At 18, Rhonda joined the army and left home to pursue a career serving others in the medical field. Following basic training in 1981, Rhonda then qualified and served as a nurse in the United States Army for two tours, from 1981 through 1995, dedicating herself to the care of others with compassion and professionalism. After leaving the Army, she and her family resided in St. Marys County, Maryland until her recent move back to her hometown where she was able to reconnect with old friends.
Rhonda raised her sons, Matthew and Robert, as a single mother after becoming a widow in 2004. She showed strength, despite many challenges and provided support to ensure they would be able to reach their goals in life.
Rhonda was an animal lover; she raised many animals throughout her life and volunteered at local pet shelters. She was also an avid traveler; She spent many years exploring Europe during her tours with the Army, which left a lasting interest in European culture. Rhonda's personality was infectious; Rhonda loved to laugh and was never hesitant to express how much she cared about you.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her husband, David Wayne Jones, in 2004.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew David Jones of California, Maryland, and Robert Dorcy Jones (Megan) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; siblings, Robert Randall Hanger, Robbie Economos, Pamela Adams, Roni Short, and Connie Morgan.
Rhonda will be remembered for her quiet strength, her love of animals, her service to others and her Country, her fashionable sense of style, her sense of humor, and the lasting impact she made on those around her. Rhonda's caring spirit lives on through her children and her close friends with whom she left a uniquely profound impression.
