Richard Stackhouse

Richard Dorsey Stackhouse, of Orange, VA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 16, 2022 at UVA University Hospital in Charlottesville, VA with his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline Avis Stackhouse and son Jeremy by his side.

He was born in Williamsport, PA on February 2, 1949. Graduating from Union Endicott High School before attending LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas receiving his BS in Mechanical Engineering. While living in Vestal, NY he served as a volunteer fireman at Vestal Station #1 for 24 years. His career at Singer Link resulted in a transfer to VA with Hughes Aircraft in 1996. Retiring in 2012 and moving to Lake Anna where he enjoyed boating & fishing with his kids and grandkids and sitting on the front porch of his log home.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Avis Stackhouse, his son Jeremy (Britt), daughter-in-law, Jennifer Smith Stackhouse, two amazing grandsons, Ethan and Andrew Stackhouse. He is also survived by his brother, Marvin Stackhouse (Linda), sister-in-law, Erma Stackhouse, brother-in-law, Richard Avis (Vicki), several very special nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.

Richard is preceded in death by his son Scott Stackhouse, his parents, William and Evelyn Stackhouse, in-laws, Floyd and Doris Avis, brother, John Stackhouse, nephew, Patrick Stackhouse.

The family would like to thank all those who supported them thru prayer and constant contact over the last three months. We also want to acknowledge the amazing care that Richard received at UVA by all the doctors and nurses who took care of him during his time there.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Unionville Christian Church, 23286 Village Road, Unionville, VA. Visitation will be at 10:00am with the service starting at 11:00am.
