Roger Wayne Knight, 65, of Palmyra, Virginia passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2017 at his home. Roger was born on July 9th, 1952 to the late Alexander and Audrey Knight. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his sons, Robert and his wife, Lindsey, and their children, Haylee, Nicholas, Tristan, and Blake; and Adam and his wife, Dorothy; his daughters Megan Matthews and her husband, Nick, Allison Marshall and her husband, David, and Jordan Knight; his sisters, Susan Ringwood and her late husband, Albert, Ellen Johnson and her husband, Andy, and Rose Snead and her husband, Ellett; and his in-laws, Helen and Fred Newman as well as several nieces and nephews. Roger was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend. Roger was a combat medic with the Virginia National Guard. He then spent twenty-two years as a Virginia State Trooper, followed by a 17 year career with Cosner Brothers Body Shop. Roger loved spending time with his family, UVA Athletics, boating and was an avid fisherman. He was also very passionate about his cats, wildlife and nature. The family will receive visitors at Teague Funeral Home on Friday, December 15th from 5-8pm. A memorial service will be held at Effort Church in Palmyra on Saturday, December 16th at 4pm because the UVA men’s basketball game is at 2pm and he would be watching the game. Jordan’s friends are also welcome to the family’s home on Sunday, December 17th from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local SPCA or the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
