Sophie Jo Rothlisberger

Sophie Jo Rothlisberger, 83, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on January 9, 2018. Born on March 23, 1934, in Yankton, SD, she was the daughter of Clarence and Amanda Hill Amundson. She attended many colleges part time and intermittently around the country from Maryland to California completing a bachelor's degree in substance abuse counseling from South Dakota State University and a masters degree in dual diagnosis counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University at age 50. She worked in many treatment centers finishing up her career in private practice as a licensed professional counselor. In addition to her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, Orland Rothlisberger; eldest son, Robert Jolivette; and younger brother Clarence Amundson. Sophie is survived by her sons, Jayson Jolivette and Gordon Jolivette and his wife Amanda; her older brother Orville Amundson two stepdaughters, Susan Anne Horvath (David) and Sharon Kay Kollar (Dennis); stepson, Curtis Alan Rothlisberger (Glory); two sisters-in-law, Doris Thompson (Oscar) and Ruth Guyman (Earl); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her last granddaughter was named for her Sophia Maxine Jolivette. An interment of Sophie’s ashes will take place at Culpeper National Cemetery at a later date.
