

Sylvia Louise Churchman, age 81 of Keswick, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at her home surrounded by her children. Born May 15, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Lucille Grady Moore. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a loving husband of thirty-two years, Oscar Roy Churchman, Sr., sister’s Amelia Grady and Laura Moore and brothers, Charles and Otto Grady. She leaves to cherish her memories; five sons, Charles Grady and Oscar Churchman, Jr of Keswick, VA; Gary Grady of Charlottesville, VA; James and Rachel Churchman of Louisa, VA; and Emmett and Marilyn Churchman of Brooklyn, MD; five daughters, Delois Grady, Janis and Lisa Churchman of Charlottesville, VA; Sharon Churchman of Keswick, VA and Tina Churchman of Clinton, MD. In addition she leaves one brother; Howard Moore, (Johanna) of Georgia; eight sisters; Charlotte Grady-Dillard of Charlottesville, Alberta Shelton of Philadelphia, PA, Ellen Grady, Joyce and Diane Moore of Keswick, Mary Grady, Joetta Moore-Rose and Brenda Moore-Nickens of Richmond, ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and spiritual family. Louise was a very kind, loving and generous person, her family and friends, especially the many grandchildren were her biggest joy. Known for her cooking, which was her passion, she loved to host and entertain and frequently had parties at her home. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the Teague Chapel, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA with Brother Raymond Jones officiating. A repast will follow the service at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Charlottesville.
