Thomas Lee Burgess Sr.

Thomas Lee Burgess, Sr., 50 of Troy, departed this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 1, 2016 at the University of Virginia Hospital. He is the son of the late Eugene (Gene) Burgess Jr. and Joyce Burgess. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene R. Burgess and Mary Dudley Burgess, Loraine Fitzgerald and Robert Johnson. Mr. Burgess was a member of Solid Rock Full Gospel Church in Barboursville, Va. He worked for Allied Waste/ BFI and Jack Massie Construction before his failing health. He was previously a volunteer firefighter with the Lower King and Queen and Mangohick fire departments, as well as the Mattaponi rescue squad. He is survived by his fiancé, Lisa Davenport Hodge, of Troy; his mother, Joyce Burgess; his step mother, Dolores Morris; his son, Thomas Burgess, Jr. and wife Kristen; his daughter, Raven Burgess and fiancé Adam Galliahugh; one grandson, Caden Burgess; his three brothers, Gary Burgess and wife Natasha, Andy Burgess, Kevin Burgess and fiancé Jennifer Hoefecker; several nieces and nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his Solid Rock Full Gospel church family. A funeral service will be conducted at Solid Rock Full Gospel Church on Thursday, January 7th, at 1pm in Barboursville, Va with Pastor Larry Morris officiating. Burial services will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 6th from 6 to 8 pm at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville, Va. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital and University of Virginia Coronary Care Unit for all the loving care Thomas received.
