On April 28, 2026, Warren James Webster, 67, passed peacefully at home in his loving family’s embrace. Warren was born on September 19, 1958 to Joseph James and Dorothy Waller Webster. Growing up in Mebane, NC, Warren was involved in football, baseball, boy scouts, fishing, the church, and many other activities. Being in a small town where everyone knew everyone, Warren and his buddies were able to ride their bikes to elementary school. As a young mischievous boy, Warren loved the outdoors and everything that came with it as evidenced by the lively black snake he pulled out of his pocket for show and tell in his middle school class; you can imagine the commotion that followed. Always a high achiever, Warren earned the difficult “Order of the Arrow” Eagle Scout award in Boy Scouts, the Golden Helmet award in football, and induction into the National Honor Society in high school. He graduated from Eastern Alamance High School in the top of his class, and after graduation, he enjoyed working alongside his dad at White’s Furniture Company in Mebane while also attending evening classes and coaching Little League Baseball. A year later, he married his wife Ruth and began working for the General Electric Company in Mebane. Along with their three beautiful sons, Warren and Ruth moved to Charlottesville VA where Warren owned and operated a picture framing business. Desiring a career change several years later, Warren earned his registered nursing degree from Piedmont Virginia Community College. He was Director of Nursing at The Colonnades Continuing Care Retirement Community for several years and Clinical Supervisor with At Home Care where he found his passion in home health nursing and worked until his retirement.
Warren loved spending time with his family, especially watching his sons play sports. He loved his mom’s lemon pie and his dad’s hearty laughter. He cherished his grandchildren. He loved his black Dodge Ram truck. He loved foot-long hotdogs, BBQ, cheeseburgers, and milkshakes. He loved fried chicken, fried oysters, and a thick rib eye steak. Warren really loved the family pets he never wanted. He enjoyed watching blue birds, hummingbirds, and the barred owl which took up residence nearby. He loved watching TV at night after a day’s work. He loved country and rock music. He loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and UNC Tarheels. And his favorite color, of course, was Carolina blue.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph James and Dorothy Waller Webster, son Jeffrey Cole Webster, brother Gerry Wayne Webster, and sister-in-law Wanda Smith Webster. He is survived by his wife Ruth Neblett Webster, sons James Brian Webster and William Brant (Kayla) Webster, and grandchildren Paisley Grace Webster, William Paul Webster, and Wyatt James Webster.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 9 in the chapel at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm. Flowers may be sent to Teague Funeral Home, or donations can be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.
