He is preceded in death by his father, James Woodson, mother, Annie Woodson, and sister, Margaret Morris. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Linda Wright Woodson, two very special children, a daughter, Cathy Campbell (Ryan), a son, Eric Wright (Amber), two brothers, Gary and James Woodson, two sisters, Brenda Woodson and Rachel Morris (John), stepchildren, Lisa Compston (Scott), Bobby Sullivan (Faye), and Scott Sullivan (Lisa). He was loved by many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren including 3 that were extremely special to him, “His Girls”, Taylor Tate “Miss Priss”, Ashley Fuller, and Paisley Campbell.
He worked at the Laird Company in North Garden VA for 38 years where he made two very special friendships, Lester Clements and Dallas Richmond.
He was a lifetime member of the North Garden Volunteer Fire Department in which he served many of years alongside other firefighters very dear to him including George Stephens, Harvey Morris, Chuck Pugh, William Johnson, John Shifflett, Robbie Campbell, Cedric Whindleton, and many others.
He had 2 very special friends in his life, Jimmy Powell and Harold “Cigar Man”, whom he thought dearly of.
As he became Ill, he was cared for by a very special doctor that he truly loved, Dr. Katherine DeGeorge (Crossroads Family Medicine). We would also like to thank the loving staff at UVA Augusta Dialysis that took care of him in his final days.
A Graveside service will be held on Friday April 21, 2023, at St. John Episcopal Church, 4708 Dick Woods Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22903 at 12:00pm. The service will be officiated by Pastor Tim Thorn.
