

Wellman A. “Shag” Nash passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 after a brief illness at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Shag was born June 16, 1929 in Schuyler, VA, son of the late Charles Wyatt Nash and Annie Staton Nash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Herman Nash; his half brother, Wilson Nash; and his sisters Bernice Nash and Lilly Nash Banton. Shag is survived by his wife Joyce Wooten “Bunny” Nash of Charlottesville; a daughter, Diane Nash and her partner Jerome F. Morris; his twin granddaughters, Claire Browning Fewell and her partner Seth Trittipoe and Shag’s precious great granddaughter due in December, Addyson Leona Trittipoe, and Corrie McNeely Fewell and her partner Anthony Huggins and Shag’s precious great granddaughter, Averie Tatum Huggins – “His best friend”. In addition to his immediate family, Shag is also survived by his brother Franklin Nash and his wife Peggy; his sisters, Eula Nash Clark and Shirley Nash Woody; and by his Nash and Wooten family who adored him. Shag was an avid gardener all of his life and was still gardening at 85. He retired from Sperry Marine after 32 years in accounting where he had many friends. He was a lover of Bluegrass music and Southern Gospel. He was a charter member of Jefferson Park Baptist Church. He loved well and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Jefferson Park Baptist Church. A celebration of his life will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with interment to follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
