Donna was born December 1, 1938, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of William and Clara Agnes Schmidt Ryan. Eight days after her high school graduation, she married Larry A Neuman on June 1, 1957, in Springfield, IL after a long engagement of five days.
Donna was in the first class that graduated from Glenwood High School in 1957 and was named Senior Class Carnival Queen as a freshman in 1954. She was employed at the SJ-R and then was a homemaker. Donna also worked on the family farm and was a caretaker to many. She was a member of Cherry Hills Church, a square dancing club called the Chatham Chummy Chainers and the Wesley Chapel Ladies Club. Donna and her husband were also youth leaders for several area Methodist churches. She enjoyed canning and flower gardening. Donna was also a good cook and amazing seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eleven siblings, including her twin brother, Donald J. Ryan.
Donna is survived by her husband of 66 years, eight months, and twelve days, Larry Neuman of Chatham; son, Dan (Pam) Neuman of Loami; daughter, Linda Kay Moss of Chatham; grandchildren, Tiffany Stritzel, Amanda Bachman, Jessica Moss, and Jacob Moss; seven and 9/10 great-grandchildren (with one due any day); sister, Carolyn (Glen) Vancil of Springfield; sisters-in-law, Arnette Ryan of Murphysboro and Betty Ryan of New Berlin; brother-in-law, Gene (Janet) Neuman of Pleasant Plains, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL.
Additional Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00 until 9:45 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home- Chatham, IL. A funeral ceremony will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ed Ingram officiating.
Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will follow burial at the Prairie View Reception Center, 8865 State Route 4, Chatham, IL.
The family does wish to invite all to wear something purple in honor of Donna.
