Linda was born on August 3, 1947, in La Salle, Illinois, the daughter of Francis and Dorothy (Dalton) Groleau. Linda married Randolph W. Carson on August 20, 1971, in La Salle.
Linda was a lifelong Illinois resident, growing up in La Salle, raising their family in Algonquin, and retiring in Chatham. Linda earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Illinois University in education. Her teaching career opened the door to lifelong friendships and spanned more than 35 years in District 300 in Carpentersville and District 15 in McHenry. She never missed a band performance, track meet, soccer game, football game, dance routine, or any of her children’s activities. She volunteered in every city in which she lived, including for the Women’s Club in Algonquin, the League of Women Voters in Algonquin and in Chatham, and for Fishes & Loaves Vocational and Literacy Center in Springfield. Her happiest times involved traveling with her husband, family, and friends; reading; exercising; and being an unconditionally devoted grandmother. She lived with a subtle selflessness and genuine laugh through every stage of life.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda is survived by her husband, Randy Carson of Chatham; sons, Sean Carson of Chatham and Kevin (Natalie) Carson of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Bethany (Eric) Jaeger of Chatham; grandchildren, Mae and William Jaeger, and Miles and Sabine Carson; and siblings, Patricia (Jerry) Payne, Edward (Sharon) Groleau, and Mike (Mindy) Groleau. She also is survived by eight nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
