

PARADIS, Anita Therese Domingue – Passed peacefully at home on June 26 with her husband and family at her side. Survived by her loving husband Renald of 68 years, son Marc and his wife Geri of Simsbury CT, daughter Anne and her wife Maryjane of Sunderland MA, daughter Claire and her husband David Wurmfeld of Palm Bay, FL, daughter Lise and her husband Dale Gosnell of Juneau, AK and daughter Julie of Westhampton, MA; grandchildren: Jessie, Zoe, Derek and Leigh Paradis and Michael Tremarche, sister-in-law Jacqueline Domingue and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Donald, her sister Cecile Cote and her loving granddaughter Christine Tremarche.
Anita was born in Fall River, MA, attended Rivier University and graduated as Valedictorian with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1948. As a young woman she moved to Washington, DC and began her career working for the National Institute of Health doing cancer research. While there she met her husband. After marrying Ray, they moved to Belmont, MA and she threw her energies into raising their 5 children. She and Ray retired to Chatham, MA and enjoyed many years dividing their time between Cape Cod and Naples, FL.
Anita enjoyed a full and active life. She was a devout Catholic and active member of the Holy Redeemer Parish in Chatham; participating in the choir and annual fundraisers. She also volunteered at Cape Cod Hospital visiting the sick and elderly. She will be forever remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother. Through out her life her greatest memories were when she was surrounded by her family. Fortunately this was a regular occurrence. Anita was very charismatic and her joy for life felt by all those in her company.
Viewing Hours will be on Wednesday afternoon, July 14, between 4 and 6 PM at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA 02633. Funeral Mass will be at 1 PM on Thursday, July 15, at Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Ave., Chatham, MA. The funeral mass will be livestreamed, to join, please go to www.nickersonfunerals.com and choose Anita’s online tribute page. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Chatham.
