Bernice Marquit

She was born on June 4, 1928 in Chatham, MA. She was the daughter of the late Archer and Dorothy (Eldredge) Nickerson.

After graduating from Chatham in 1946, she was a telephone operator for the former Chatham Telephone Company for many years. She loved sewing, knitting, and gardening. She enjoyed vacationing, going to Maine and Nova Scotia. She was a former member of the American Legion Axillary.

She is survived by her son, Ralph “Stan” Marquit of West Chatham, two brothers, Archer “Archie” Nickerson of West Chatham, Elwood “Ellie” Nickerson of West Harwich, granddaughter, Megan Marquit, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of late Barbara Campbell, and Beverly Livesey.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Chatham, 16 Cross Street, Chatham, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Liberty Commons Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center, 390 Orleans Road, Chatham, MA 02650.
