He was born on February 20, 1929 in Hampstead, England. During the German Blitz, Dudley was evacuated to Leighton Buzzard while his parents, Doris and Henry Ranzetta worked in London. He attended the William Ellis School and served in the British Army during the occupation of Germany after World War II. After the war, he was hired by Barclays Bank to work in the Caribbean at branches on the islands of Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Vincent, and Trinidad. While on a tennis date he met the late Sarah “Sally” Cooke Rosenquest (1930-2003) and they were wed in 1957. Dudley would go on to become an Executive Vice President with Barclays Bank in the Correspondent Banking Division of the New York City office. Dudley enjoyed life throughout his travels, loved to read British naval adventure stories, couldn’t resist a good John Wayne western or wearing his cowboy boots, once appeared in “To Tell the Truth”, and shared his kindness and generosity with all he met.
Dudley is survived by his second wife Elizabeth Spencer Ranzetta of Chatham, sister Paula Hipp of Fussen, Germany, stepfather Edward Knight of Bexhill-on-Sea, England, children William Ranzetta, Paul Ranzetta, Carolyn Matlack, Mary Anne Cherry, Timothy Ranzetta, and Kirk Ranzetta and sixteen grandchildren. He is a former resident of Demarest, NJ and retired to Chatham, MA in 1993.
