
Dr. John Frank Snyder died peacefully Tuesday, December 4, 2013. After a long battle with cancer he found peace with our Lord. He was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey September 19, 1938. He graduated from The Lawrenceville School and received a B.S. and a Master's Degree from the University of North Carolina and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in Geology. He worked for Getty Oil Co. for many years in the mining exploration division. He worked on projects in TN, MN, Wi and ME.He enjoyed his work as a geologist and was proud of his success in finding mineral deposits...During his years in Tennessee he enjoyed trout fishing in the Clinch River and hiking along the banks of Norris Lake with his family, but his true love was being on the waters of Cape Cod. He spent many years fishing and clamming those waters as a young boy and through his life. He was an avid outsdoorsman who loved feeding his bunnies and birds in the backyard. He also had a very special place in his heart for the pets he has had over many years from his first dog named Butch, a beagle named Lassie and his current 4-legged pets, Bo and Jelly Bean, both rescues. He is preceded in death by his parents Willis and Emma Snyder, his brother Clinton Snyder and his sister Adele. He is survived by his loving wife Carol Snyder, his daughters and their husbands Sarah and Chip Hyle of Beaufort, S.C., Beth and Ken Rickenbrode of Johnson City, TN, and Amy and Kelly Dickson of Woodstock, GA. his step-children Rick Phillips of Clinton, TN, Melissa Dority and husband Mike of Andersonville, TN, his grandchildren, Michael Hyle of Atlanta, GA, Graham and Lilly Rickenbrode of Johnson City, TN and Steve Dority of Andersonville, TN, his mother-in-law Mildred McCoy of Lake City, TN and his sister-in-law Mary Jane Snyder of Naples, FL.
