

Born on December 18, 1916 in Salem, MA, he was the son of Adelaide and Herbert Dana of Salem, Massachusetts.
He was the loving husband of 53 years to Jean Shepherdson Dana.
Father of Keith and his wife Kathy of Boulder, CO, James and his wife Lori of Milford, CT. Grandfather to Michael, Nicholas and Marike Dana.
He was predeceased by his loving daughter Laurel Jean Dana and sister Sylvia Dana.
He was a graduate of Philips Academy, Andover, MA and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He served in the Army from 1942 to 1946 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. He worked as Engineer for Kendall, Spalding and USCI before retiring in 1983. Joe enjoyed a full life; he was an avid skier, tennis player and sailor, as well as, traveler of the world with his favorite companion, his wife Jean.
He was a member of First Congregational Church, and the Monomoy Yacht Club in Chatham, MA. He volunteered at the start up of Merrimack River Watershed Committee.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the First Congregational Church, Chatham at 3:00 p.m.
