

SOUTH CHATHAM – Mary Todd Everett (“Toddy”), 76, of South Chatham, MA passed away peacefully on Nov. 28th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Clinton J. Everett, Jr.
Toddy was born and raised in South Orange, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Mary (Connolly) Cunningham. She attended College of St. Elizabeth in Madison, NJ and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School.
She was the President of the South Chatham Village Association for five years and was instrumental in the preparation of the Town of Chatham’s Comprehensive Plan. She was also a founding member of the organization and worked tirelessly to assist in the establishment of zoning by-laws. Mrs. Everett was a member of the Board of Directors of the Chatham Alliance for Preservation and Conservation. Toddy was deeply committed to protecting and preserving the Town of Chatham. She was also a devoted member of the Catholic Church and regularly attended mass in the Holy Redeemer Parish. Toddy was an avid gardener. She loved taking long walks on the beach collecting shells and sea glass.
Besides her husband Clinton, she is survived by her children: Cathleen G. McDonough of Summit, NJ, Erin G. Cummings of Concord, MA, Deirdre G. Kennedy of New Providence, NJ, Eileen G. Dexheimer of Chatham, NJ; step-children: Clinton J. Everett III of NYC, NY, Kathleen Hubbard Ismail of Boston, MA, and Patrick Everett of Winthrop, MA; sisters: Nancy Cunningham of Chatham, NJ, Susan Richards of Prairie Village, Kansas, and Jane Cunningham of Denver, Co; grandchildren: Robbie, Christopher and Anna Dexheimer, Elizabeth, Ted, Claire and Martin Cummings, Jack McDonough, Colleen and Michael Kennedy, Taylor Hubbard, and Colin Everett; great grandchildren: Ella and Grace Hubbard; and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.
Visiting hours will be from 4p-7p on Friday Dec. 2, 2011 at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Chatham, MA. Burial will follow in South Chatham Cemetery.
