

Ann was a dedicated mother, a proud grandmother, a loving sister-in-law, and a steadfast friend. She will be remembered for her exceptional kindness, remarkable generosity, and her ability to offer a compassionate listening ear. Ann was also widely recognized for her distinctive love of hats and her impeccable sense of style.
Ann is survived by her children, Antoine D. Carter, Sr.(Patricia Carter of CA), and Takisha Allen (TN). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Antoine D. Carter, Jr (TX)., De’Andre Carter (CA), Brytni Hoffman (TX), Tim Gonzales (CA), Amara Allen (TN), and Donald C. Allen, III (TN). Her siblings, Lorenzo Sawyers (IL), Jonathan K. Sawyers, Sr. (Stephanie Sawyers of MD), and James Sawyers, also survive her.
Additionally, she leaves behind her nieces, Crystanie Da-Ja’Ron Sawyers (MD), Monica Sawyers, LaShundra Mason (Chad Mason of LA), great nieces, Aaliyah Sawyers (MD), and SaVannah Sawyers (MD), as well as her nephews, David Sawyers (TN), Edward Sawyers, Jonathan K. Sawyers, Jr. (MD), Timothy Carter (Marsha of AL), Vincent Carter (Gwendolyn of VA), and great nephews, JoNah Sawyers (MD), Kamren Sawyers (MD), and Kaziah Sawyers (MD).
Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Birdie M. Sawyers; her father, Esmond L. Sawyers; her brothers, Nathaniel Sawyers and Harvey Sawyers; and her sister, Suzanne Thomas. She also joins a host of other extended family members and friends who preceded her in death.
A memorial service to celebrate Ann's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Faith United Missionary Baptist Church, located at 600 Revels Drive, Nashville, TN 37207.
