Mrs. Barbara Ann Fortner

Mrs. Fortner was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Ambassador Sunday School Class and enjoyed participating in the Ladies Bible Study. She was a great support to her husband who is the Director of Frontline Fellowship Missions which serves in Romania. She was a constant in ministering to the women of Romania and the wives of the graduates of Timisoara Baptist Institute.

She had formerly served as church secretary for First Baptist Church in Kirkland, Washington.

Her sisters, Betty, Joyce and June preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, William “Bill” Fortner, Jr.; daughter, Karen Smith and her husband, David of Ringgold; son, Mike Fortner of Atlanta; grandchildren, Nicole, Courtney, Landry, and Taylor Smith all of Ringgold; and nephew, Ron York of Nashville.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Euler and Rev. Fred Bennett officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Melwood Cemetery in Decatur, Georgia.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel and Monday from 9-10 a.m. at the Grace Baptist Church.
