Carl Godwin 82, of LaFayette, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was born on June 24, 1942 in Johnsonville, SC and had been a resident of LaFayette, GA for over 13 years.
Carl loved to go fishing. He was retired from Smurfit Stone Container after over 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Jr. Godwin; mother, Lucille Hanna Godwin; brothers, Hardee Godwin and Wayne ‘Buckshot’ Godwin.
Those Carl leaves behind to cherish his precious memories are his daughters, Carla (Ricky) Linam and Tammy Godwin; grandchildren, Brandon Q. Godwin, Jonathan G. ‘Gabe’ Linam, Jared L. Marsh and Kayla E. Godwin; great grandchildren, Hayden Linam and Jace Linam; sister, Lucy Godwin; brother, Randell Godwin; lifelong best friend, Jimmy Kirby; many nieces and nephews and his NHC Fort Oglethorpe family.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
