

Courtney Lynn Hines was born August 22, 1965 in Chattanooga TN. He was a 1983 graduate of Howard High School. In early years he was a member of St. Elmo Baptist Church. He later united with the Agent of Change Church under the pastorate of his sister and brother in law. He completed numerous cooking and culinary courses and training. He completed his journey here on earth well on April the 29th 2025. He slipped away peacefully at his home into the presence of the Almighty God.
Courtney was affectionately known as Mr President. He always exemplified true leadership, he had a remarkable way with the delivery of words. Courtney would lecture you and love on you all at the same time. He was a true Cowboys fan and a Howard Hustling Tiger for life. His favorite group of all times was the Isley's Brothers
On a day-to-day basis Courtney could be found spending time with his little sister Letechia, some of his classmates and longtime friends. He made the most out of every moment and he live life to the fullest. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone. His specialty was making people laugh and satisfying their souls with good food this was his life antidote.
Courtney found his true calling in the kitchen, he started cooking at the tender age of 15. His very first job was at the Ramada INN in East Ridge, TN. Over the course of time, he worked at several notable restaurants such as Town and Country Club, Long Horn, Bea's, Parkridge Hospital and his last job where he had just started training for his dream position was with the child nutrition dept of Hamilton County Schools.
His passion for cooking led him to a remarkable career of over 40 years.
He received numerous awards and global recognition for being an outstanding cook and employee. He traveled different states cooking with love
Courtney had several signature dishes such as his famous chicken pot pie, chicken alfredo marinating in Courtney's special cheese sauce, prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and homemade butter rolls. These dishes was sure to leave you craving for more.
Courtney's life beyond the kitchen included: volunteering to cook at the Union Gospel mission and Chatt Foundation, Paw Paws ministry. He also cook for all the special events and outreach projects at his church Agent of Change Church. Courtney was preceded in death by his parents Shirley Ann Hines and James Edward Mason both of Chattanooga, his brother Jermany Jerome Hines, sister Angela Brown.
Those whom he leaves with so many precious memories are his sister Pastor Letechia (Nigel) Ellis, brothers Val Lamar Hines, Anthony Mason. Sister in law Tonia (Brian) Love. Special aunt Ruby Hymes, Nephews Nathan C Pursey, Perry Langston Jr, Brian Clay Jr, Jamarko Langston, Antonio Brown, special cousins: Trammell Hymes, Sheila (Tyrone) Thomas, Dennis (Remona) Pratt, Ronald Hines. Friends of 30+ years James (Shantelle) Bland, Anthony (Debra) Drake, Gloria Ramsey, Wayne, Jeff, Stanley (Dlanna) Corum, Leon, Denise (Keith) Jones and his Agent of Change Church family, Hymes family, he has several other relatives and dear friends.
A life celebration memorial service will be held on May 17, 2025 at 2 pm at the Bethlehem Center located at 200 W 38th Street. Chatt, TN 37410. His cremains will be placed in a columbarium at Lakewood Memorial Gardens East. Pastor Keith Jones will be officiating.
