Douglas Parker Jensen

He was born December 9, 1920 in Camden, New Jersey to the late Carl Peter & Eria Parker Jensen.

He was a 1939 graduate of La Salle High School in Niagra Falls, NY.

He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp. He served during World War II from 1940 until 1946, three of those years overseas. Upon release from the military he had attained the rank of Major.

Following his military service and as a young husband and father, he graduated from Tennessee Temple College and Seminary.

He and his loving wife, Jeanette were Missionaries with Trans World Radio for more than 25 years.

Rev. Jensen served as pastor for various churches Georgia, Florida, and Michigan. He was a longtime member of Woodland Park Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher.

His daughter, Deborah Ann Jensen and brother, Carl P. Jensen, Jr. preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Jeanette Jensen; children, William (Penelope) Jensen and Karen (Don) Kerr of Chattanooga, and Phil (Pam) Jensen of Crofton, Maryland; brother, Austin Jensen of Winter Haven, Florida; grandchildren, Joy (Chad) Eslinger of McDonald, Amy (Brian) Thompson of Chattanooga, Billy (Christi) Jensen of Chattanooga, and Dawn (Jason) Dyson of Tullahoma; and great-grandchildren, Maggie, Reed, Seth & Eli Eslinger, Wesley, Katie & Olivia Thompson, Caleb, Lydia, Hannah & Max Jensen, and Olivia Dyson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with his nephew Dr. Alan Smith officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
