George Brown Harless Jr.

Butch attended Central High School ‘59 and the University of Chattanooga (UTC) ‘63. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and a varsity wrestler (SEC champion ‘62 &’63).

Butch worked for WDEF before spending numerous years at Lake Winnepesaukah. He owned and operated the 23rd Street Flea Market and Acme Enterprises until his retirement.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma Edge Harless and George B Harless, Sr.; daughter, Kelly Lytle; brother, Bill Harless; and brother-in-law, Marvin Miller.

Butch is survived by his wife, Charlyn (Tootsie) Harless; daughters, Evelyn Harless (Jay Martin) and Libby Haun; son, Charlie Harless (Viki); son-in-law, Bill Lytle; sister, Pam Miller; sisters-in-law, Lindia Harless and Adrienne Rhodes.

Granddaddy Butch was loved dearly by his grandchildren, Robby Armstrong, Patrick Armstrong (Katie), Emily Jane Talley (Michael), Evelyn Lytle, Annie Haun, Will Haun, Charlie Harless, Kristen Helm;and great grandchildren, Kinsley Armstrong, Birdie Mae Talley, Bear Talley and Colton Rinehart.

As Uncle Butch, he was adored by his nephews, George, Mark, and Michael Miller, and Will Harless. Nieces; Mary Cummins, Laura Hamm and Tennyson Dickinson.

Butch shared a special bond with 3 lifetime friends, Jerry Summers, Dean Hutson and Alan Pressley.

The family wishes to thank his loving caretakers; Kelli Harless, Marge Smith and Sharon Scott, his BSA.

The family will hold a Visitation on Sunday, September 22nd at First Centenary United Methodist Church from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the narthex. Private services will be held for the family at another time.

In lieu of flowers, Butch’s family requests that donations be made to First Centenary United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
