A 1973 graduate of Brainerd High School, Tony was the son of the late Roy and Margaret Coode Morris. His father was a prominent radio and television personality, and Tony had the pleasure of working with his father as a sound engineer at WDOD and WBDX radio stations and at live music remotes throughout Chattanooga and the surrounding area.
A talented guitarist in his own right, Tony played in various bands in Chattanooga and Charlotte, N.C., in his younger days. He was an avid record collector and was manager of Cats Records in Brainerd and Hixson for several years. Like millions of people in his generation, Tony particularly loved The Beatles. His favorite Beatle was George.
Often described as the smartest person in the room, Tony enjoyed hiking and exploring nature in and around Chattanooga. He loved dogs. His rescue hound Elvis was a true character in his own right.
Tony is survived by his sisters, Patricia Treppard of Hixson and Mary Lou (Sam) Jackson of Lantana, Fla.; his brother, Roy (Leslie) Morris Jr. of Chattanooga; his nieces Debra (John) Gilluly of Austin, Tex., and Lucy Morris of Chattanooga; his nephews Phil Morris and Michael Treppard, both of Chattanooga; his longtime partner Shannon Beatey; and numerous other friends and relatives.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at his favorite meeting place, the Pickle Barrel, on Sunday, March 10th, at 4:00pm.
