

Leslie Gerald Davis, 92, of Crystal River, Florida, died Sunday morning, April 24, 2011 in a local hospital. A native of Gladstone, Michigan, he had lived in Crystal River, Florida for the past 30 years. He was the son of the late Leslie John and Ruth Thomas Davis and was preceded in death by his wife, Helga L. Davis; a brother, Theodore Davis and a sister, Dorothy Davis.
Les was a World War II veteran, having served with the 5th Infantry where he served two tours of duty in the European Theater. He was a loving and generous man who was both gentle and strong while maintaining a witty sense of humor through adversity. He was loved by all who knew him. “Opa,” as he was affectionately known, leaves his family and friends with many warm and funny memories to share.
Les is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Fredricka (Fred) Woolwine, Helga T. (Phillip) Tuttle; granddaughter, Jamie (Shan) Hensley; grandsons, Darrin (Kelly) Ledford, Eddy (Diane) Merritt; great-grandson, Zachary Davis Ledford; two beloved brothers, Carl Davis and Bill (Maureen) Davis; loving sister, Eileen Plant; seven nieces and nephews and special family friends, Debbie, Jan and Bea. A private service for the family will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011.
