Linda Wilhoite Adkins, 75, of Ooltewah went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 3, 2017. She was born January 7, 1942 in Chattanooga, TN. She worked for JCPenney, McKee Bakery, and the Murray Family before retiring in 2005. Linda was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and the Ladies of Grace small group class. She also served for many years at Ooltewah Baptist Church with the Women Reaching Women ministry, the hospitality committee, and as a mentor in the Mothers of Preschoolers organization. She loved encouraging young mothers and realized the value of lending a listening ear and offering a word of praise. Linda was a light in her community and beautifully demonstrated the gifts of hospitality and discernment. Her faith and love for Jesus compelled her to selflessly put others interests ahead of her own. She was an honorary member of the Ooltewah High School Red Hots Dance Team where she served for many years as chef, supporter, and mentor to many young ladies and their mothers. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose fun-loving and spunky personality brought many smiles and much laughter to all. Linda loved to travel with her family and friends and was always up for a new adventure. “Lulu” as she was lovingly known by her grandchildren, leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, diligence, and faith in God.
Linda is preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Ramsey, her father Raymond Wilhoite, and her brother James Wilhoite, all of Chattanooga.
Linda leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Frank of 45 years, daughters April (Brian) Hooper and Kristy (Scott) Sussdorff, grandchildren Kelton Sussdorff and Isabella Hooper, dear friend Kathy Taylor of Ringgold, GA and also many wonderful cousins, a special aunt, and numerous other family and friends.
For the past 15 months Linda was given wonderful care by the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga. Her family would like to thank her extra-special care-givers Ruby, Teresa, Marianne, Jackie, and Tonya for their compassion and kindness during this season. Much gratitude is also given to long time, special family friend Jan Lively for many months of care and support.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 6 from 3-6 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Brainerd Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel with Dr. Richard Mason officiating. Interment will follow at Ooltewah Cemetery.
