

Martha Margaret (Ike) Long Gamble was called to heaven and healed on August 15, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Dave and Julia Doyle Long of Whiteside, Tennessee. She was also predeceased by brother, David Long and sister, Max Long Rheay. Max and her husband Boyd, introduced Ike to Alex Gamble on a blind date and he was to become the love of her life. They married in 1942 and were married for 66 years until his death in 2008. They had a son, Alex G. Gamble III (Jim) that died in 2007. They also had a daughter, Barbie, that survives her along with son-in-law Stan Brown, whom she thought of as her second son, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gamble. Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren Marc (Darla) and Scott (Jamie) Gamble, Tyler Brown, Maggie Brown McClure (Jake), and Art (Charlotte) Hullender. She was so proud of her six great grandchildren, Hannah, Erin, Olivia, Jacob, and Abigail Gamble, and Luke McClure. She has one sister, Mary Louise Moore, that resides in Jasper, Tennessee.
The family wishes to thank Morning Point at Greenbriar Cove for 5 wonderful years, and to Angie Guffie for her tireless efforts to make her comfortable in Mother’s final weeks.
Family and friends will gather Monday, August 19, 2013 at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. for Graveside Services with Rev. Mark Flynn officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
