

Martin W. Hamby, 85, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 7, 2014. He was the son of the late N.C. and Alma Hamby. Mr. Hamby was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He retired after working for the United States Postal Service and Southern Railroad. He was a former member of Woodland Park Baptist Church and a current, active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years, Iona Hamby; three sisters and three brothers.
Survived by his wife, Katy B. Hamby; daughter, Peggy M. Hamby; son, Martin W. Hamby, Jr. “Marty” and his wife Mitzi Haynes Hamby; twin granddaughters, Mary Beth and Mackenzie Hamby; step son, Corey Bauldwin and his wife, Falicia; step grandchildren, Haleigh and Caiden Bauldwin; sister, Wanda Nickens and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 2:30 PM at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Members of the Friendship Sunday School Class at Ridgedale Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hearth Hospice and Caris Hospice.
