

She was born on July 9, 1941, to the late Robert Olin Holloway and Irene Head Holloway. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman Earnest Kennedy, and nephews, Brian Holloway and Stanley Kennedy.
Mrs. Kennedy's surviving family members include her brother, Robert Holloway and his wife, Martha of Barnesville, Georgia, her daughter, Kristi Kennedy Lawrence of Chattanooga, Tennessee her son, Clay Kennedy and his wife, Robin of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Grandchildren, Branson Kennedy, Amber Lawrence, and Anslee Lawrence, all of Chattanooga, TN. Including nieces and nephews, Rene Holloway Schug and her husband, Steve, Michael Kennedy and his wife, Heather.
Upon graduating from Robert E Lee High School in Thomaston Georgia, Mary Ella attended GSCW (Georgia Southern College for Women) and then married the Love of her Life Earnest Kennedy who had enlisted in the Navy. After Earnest spending time in San Diego, they moved to Sanford Florida for Earnest's stationing early in their marriage. After Earnest served his country with the Navy, careers took them back to Thomaston Georgia along with Knoxville Tennessee, Rock Spring Georgia, and Chattanooga Tennessee where they eventually settled into.
During her time in Chattanooga, Mary Ella enjoyed Camping with her Family and Friends, meeting so many wonderful people who eventually became friends.
She was known as a true Southern Belle. Her proper - South Georgia Southern Accent was like something out of Gone with the Wind.
A visitation for Mary will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM with Rev. David Hall officiating.
