

Paul Jones “P. J.” Hatchette, age 74, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013 surrounded by family members. He was born July 8, 1938 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Altonia & Paul Hatchette.
He was a graduate of Spartanburg Junior College (now Spartanburg Methodist College) and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a B.S. Degree. He was active for many years with Southern Credit Union, holding several offices including President and Board Member. Mr. Hatchette was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 29 years of service. He also served in the United States Army National Guard.
He always had a smile, a compliment, and kind word for everyone.
His sisters, Betty Fowler, and Frances Johnson preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Priscilla Jane Hatchette; daughter, Lisa (John) Jenkins; his much loved granddaughter, Andrea Jenkins of Knoxville; step-grandsons, John (Laura) Jenkins III and Wade (Tracy) Jenkins; great-granddaughters, Adalynne, Hanna, and Chloe; brother, Charles M. Hatchette and sister, Martha Ann Lister both of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 – 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Norfolk Southern Railway employees and retirees and the Southern Credit Union Employees.
