Born in Oxford, Michigan, Quentin graduated from Albion College and later earned a master’s degree in divinity from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. It was there that he met his first wife, Ella (Ellis), and together they embarked on a four-year Peace Corps journey in Malawi, Africa, before settling in Austin, Texas, where they raised their three children. Years later, Quentin found love again with Mary, and together they built an adventurous life, living in Texas, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Georgia, and finally, Tennessee.
Quentin found immense joy in his church community, sharing his amazing voice in the choir, serving the community, and always lending a helping hand wherever needed. Quentin was known for his quick wit, generous spirit, and remarkable ability to build and repair just about anything. He constructed his first home in Austin, hand-crafted a rowboat, and even built a classic Mercedes replica. He found joy in tinkering with old cars and restoring historic houses, always drawn to projects that told a story.
Quentin embraced life, laughter, and service and could often be found enjoying a funny movie or TV show, with his laughter the loudest in the room. Whether singing in harmony, working with his hands, or sharing stories with loved ones, he offered kindness, gentleness, and encouragement to everyone around him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ridgedale Baptist Church (1831 Hickory Valley Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37421); or Dahlonega Baptist Church (234 Hawkins St., Dahlonega, GA 30533).
Arrangements are by the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37421.
