

Robert Dean Beu, of Ooltewah, left this world on April 12, 2022 at age 93. He was born September 26, 1928 at Raleigh Dean and Claire Robertson Beu's home in Moline, Kansas. He was the oldest of four children including John Franklin, Virginia Nell and James Alan. His father worked for City Services natural gas company at various locations in the midwest including Perry, OK, White Deer, TX and Lawrence, KS.
Bob discovered his life-long love of golf while caddying for his father in Perry in the early 1940's. He enjoyed his life in White Deer in the mid 1940's where he was the handsome star quarterback. He graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence in 1946.
He attended the University of Kansas and joined the Delta Upsilon Fraternity in Lawrence where he earned a BS in Geological Engineering and an MS in Geology in 1952. The day after graduation, he married the professor's daughter, Virginia Ann Ireland. They had a wonderful life together for almost 70 years.
Bob was hired out of college by the California Company (now Chevron) and worked for them until retirement in 1990. Bob and his family lived in New Orleans, LA, New Iberia, LA, Lafayette, LA, Jackson MS and Covington, LA. Later Bob and Ginny lived in Spring, TX, Weaverville, NC and their final destination, Ooltewah, TN to be close to their children.
Bob leaves behind a large and loving family. This includes:

Son Thomas Dean Beu with wife Mesbeth, children John Robert and wife Meredith, Richard Dean and wife Emily, and Elizabeth with husband Danny Bourgeois and daughter Virginia Fox Bourgeois.
Daughter Jill Beu Pratt with husband John Pratt, children Hannah with husband Jonathan Carson and sons Tobin and Jonah, Christine with husband Lucas Lewis and son Sawyer. Step (a word never in Bob's vocabulary) children include Julie Cowell with children Logan Sherman with wife Hannah and sons Griffin and Graham, Mason with wife Whitney, Sheryl Davenport with husband Shawn and children Abbye Webber with husband Daniel and daughter Piper, Erin Pasquith with husband Ryan, Jacob Pratt with wife Ruth and children Bailey, Aubrey, Clara and Ethan.
Son Richard Andrew Beu with wife Deborah with children Joshua Beu with wife Jessi and child Zachary, Jonathan Beu with wife Katie, Jacob Beu and Jordan Beu.
Bob was well known for telling funny stories and jokes, his golf addiction, his love for family and friends, his intelligence, his industriousness, his helpfulness, his clarinet playing, and his acceptance of Ginny's ideas with a smile.
The family appreciates the care and kindness shown by the folks at CHI Memorial Hospital during Bob's final days.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, April 16 at the Chattanooga Funeral Home East Brainerd Chapel with visitation starting at 1:30 pm. Internment to follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
