

Hugh was born in Cartersville, Georgia on April 4, 1924. He entered World War II after he graduated from High School. He was in the United States Navy/Marine Corp until 1946. He moved to Chattanooga in 1947 and went to work for the Chattanooga Times. He soon went into the restaurant business (Margaret’s Restaurant) that he owned and operated for thirty years. In 1981 he closed the restaurant and was an insurance agent for Commonwealth Insurance Company until he retired after 10 years of service. Hugh was a member of Cross Path Church of East Ridge (formerly East Ridge Baptist Church).
He was preceded in death by his father, Isaac Pinson; mother, Bertie Blalock Pinson; first wife, Margaret Pinson; sisters, Mildred Pinson Arnold, Nancy Pinson Jenkins; brothers, C. J. Pinson and Hutcheson Pinson.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 35 years, Opal Ladd Pinson; children, Glenda Pinson Moore (Mike) of Chattanooga; Willie “Will” Hugh Pinson, Jr. of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Melissa Moore, Lynette Pinson, Dianna Moore; great-grandson Colton Smith; sister, Clarkie Pinson Grant (Bob); and brothers, Carl Pinson (Sara), Charles Pinson (Alice), Alton Pinson (Bernice), Walter Pinson, Marvin Pinson (Barbara).
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Rev. William Jacques and Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating.
Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
