Michael Earl Gentile

Chester, VT: Lt. Col. Michael Earl Gentile, USA – Retired, 65, of Spotsylvania County, Virginia passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home.

Lt. Col. Gentile had retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of service and was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the NRA. He was passionate about Civil War history and his family; especially the time spent with his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, canoeing and travel.

Survivors include his daughters, Kristina Criss and her husband, Tim of Bennington, Vermont and Carrie Cohen and her husband, Josh, of New York; his brother, George Gentile and his wife, Cynthia; and five grandchildren, Joshua, Elizabeth, David, and Seth Criss and Joanna Cohen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Gentile.

Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Andover Church, Andover, VT.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Rifle Association, Institute for Legislative Action, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
