Alice May Bennett, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was born on May 31, 1943, in Glen Campbell, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Doris Elouise (Miller) and Otto Berlin Lydic. Alice was a 1961 graduate of Purchase Line High School and grew up in Mahaffey, Pennsylvania. Formerly a longtime Chester Township resident, she married Harry F. Bennett in 1962, and shared sixty beautiful years of love, laughter, and adventures. She was the proud mother of two sons, Rodney F. (Lisa) Bennett of Ravenna, Ohio, and Chad A. (Christine) Bennett of Chesterland, Ohio; and proud grandmother to five grandchildren, Kristin Hodges, Jesse (Taylor) Hodges, Kyle (Christine Morris) Bennett, Kaitlyn (Eric Buenrostro) Bennett, and Paige Bennett.
Alice’s life was stitched together with love, laughter, and a healthy dose of creativity. Beyond her devotion to family, she had a knack for sewing that turned fabric into memories. Her kitchen was another place where her love shined through. Lemon chicken and raisin puff cookies weren’t simply recipes, they were edible love letters to her family, the kind of dishes that made you hope for seconds and secretly wish for leftovers. Alice also had a treasure-hunter’s spirit. Whether at a garage sale or thrift store, she could spot a gem where others saw clutter, It was part of her charm, finding joy in the unexpected and delighting in the little victories of everyday life. Kindness and generosity were her trademarks, woven into her daily rhythm as naturally as thread through a needle. She adored her family and friends, and they adored her right back. Alice will be missed dearly, but her memory will live on in every story retold, every recipe recreated, and every bargain found that makes someone smile and say, “Alice would have loved this”.
