Debbie Penksa, age 69, of Chesterland, Ohio, passed away following a long battle with cancer on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Debbie is the daughter of the late Leonard and Helen (nee Wincek) Kolakowski. Debbie was the cherished wife of over 49 years to Arnie Penksa; loving mother of Sara Powell (Ken) and AJ (Maranda); precious Mimi to Danny, Lily, and Dominic; sister to Mike (Christine) and Mark; sister-in-law to Don (late Linda Hughes); aunt of Katie, David, Jennifer, Greg, late Laura, and Lisa; and beloved friend of many.
Debbie was lovingly known as the “Pinterest Queen” as she found so many recipes and ideas from the site even though she was already an excellent cook. She enjoyed sewing and crafting. She often shared her crafts with family and friends. Debbie was eager to offer a helping hand to anyone in need and had a true heart of gold. In her free time, she visited the Chesterland Senior Center. She loved to spend time with her family and cherished every weekly family dinner. She also cherished every moment she had with her grandchildren at the cottage in Erie and during their many sleepovers. Debbie, with her kind way and infectious laugh, touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home located at 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4pm until 8pm. Prayers will take place at the Funeral Home on Friday, May 10, 2024. Please arrive at 9am for prayers or meet at Church. Following prayers, Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Anselm Catholic Church on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10am. Burial will take place privately at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Monday, May 13, 2024.
