She was predeceased by her parents, Kye and Mildred Claus.
She is survived by Cloyce, her husband of 44 years; and sisters, Jean Turner of Austin, Texas and Connie Smith of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Faye was born in Hallettsville, Texas, in 1946. She grew up and graduated from Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi, and still has many friends from this time. Faye went on to earn degrees from Texas A&M Kingsville, the University of Houston, and the University of Akron, achieving two summa cum laude distinctions and induction into Phi Theta Kappa.
As a CPA accounting professional, Faye had an extensive career with responsible positions with Arthur Anderson, Exxon and several regional accounting firms.
Faye and Cloyce had lived in Northeast Ohio for the past 27 years. Throughout her life, Faye and Cloyce were always very active outdoors and took advantage of all the local hiking, biking and sailing opportunities. She had developed many friendships based on these. She loved travel and meeting people, almost always in connection with things outdoors. In all these activities, Faye especially enjoyed meeting and learning about others. She always tried to put people at ease, and to understand she was genuinely interested and cared about them. The company of friends had always been Faye's greatest joy in life.
A memorial service and celebration of Faye's life will take place 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park she loved so well, at the Conservancy Center, 1403 West Hines Hill Road, Peninsula, OH 44264. Faye's famous Texas Bar-B-Que will be featured.
A bench at the Deep Rock Quarry Trailhead will be installed in Faye's memory.
Contributions in Faye's name are being made to the CVNP Conservancy Trails Forever program (http://www.conservancyforcvnp.org/help/trails-forever/). You may wish to consider this or consider contributing to one of your local parks for the future enjoyment of all.
