

Edison George Stone, Jr., age 87, of Auburn Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Dorothy Rose (Ely) and Edison George Stone, Sr. Ed graduated from Mentor High School in 1956, where he played football under Coach Lee Tressel for a thirty-four-game winning streak. He met the love of his life, Nathalee “Lee” W. Krauss in high school, and married September 13, 1958. Ed spent his career in retail and was a manager for the prominent Uncle Bill’s department store chain. He had many interests and hobbies from owning and racing sports cars and go-carts; to breeding, showing, and training Labrador Retrievers. Ed owned and operated Dan Dee Labradors Kennel for over thirty years. He had a room entirely filled with ribbons, trophies, and plaques to his dog’s accomplishments. Ed was the President of the Buckeye Retrievers Club for over ten years and became an honorary lifetime member. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and competitions, many of the students knew him as Grandpa Stone.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daniel Edison Stone, Sr.; and his grandson, Daniel Edison Stone, Jr. Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Lee; three children, Diane (Larry) Molnar, Christina (Carl) Smalley, and Joseph Stone; five grandchildren, Sarah, Eddie, Geoffrey, Stephanie, and Lauren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David (Glendra) Stone, and Dennis (Diane) Stone.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, with a memorial service at 5:00 PM at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH, 44026.
