Edwin Daniel Rowan Sr., 84, of Novelty, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024. Ed was the son of the late George and Frances (nee Welling) Rowan. Besides his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his son Edwin, "Danny" Rowan, and two sisters Mary Ann Gaglione and Alice Tracek . Ed was a 1958 graduate of Cathedral Latin. He worked for Fisher Foods, Inc. and previously was a part owner of two Valu King grocery stores.
Ed was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3304, and a devoted parishioner of St. Helen Catholic Church in Newbury. Being with his family brought him the most joy in life. He loved coaching sports his children were involved with and always supported them. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret “Peg” (nee Jerman) Rowan; children Maureen Salzano (Al), Tim Rowan, Rick Rowan (Denise), Cheryl Kemper (Mark); grandchildren Michelle Rowan, Kristen Vines, Megan Salzano, Nathan Kemper, and Everett Kemper; many nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Danny”, loving in-laws, and so many friends. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home located at 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland on Sunday, January 5, 2024, from 2-6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church located at 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury on Monday, January 6, 2024, at 10am. Please meet at church. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery.
