

Emil Jack “Moe” Smolic, age 75, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. He was born on April 25, 1951, in Euclid, Ohio, the son of Stefi (Skubic) and Joseph Smolic. A 1969 graduate of Saint Joseph High School, Moe began learning the family business while a freshman in high school. He worked as a machinist, became part owner and was the Head of Sales for the Smolic Machine Company, retiring after thirty years, in 2001. Moe in retirement decided to become a licensed Insurance Agent, selling New York Life Insurance, as well as an independent Insurance Agent. On August 26, 1983, he married Margo Estelle Mavrikis. He had a love of golf and would play seven days a week. Moe was a longtime member of the Legend Lake Golf Club of Fowlers Mill and played on the ESPN Senior Pro Tour of Northeast Ohio. He had a passion for keeping his landscape manicured and enjoyed gardening and traveling with his wife and family.
Moe is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Smolic. Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Margo; his two children, Melissa C. (Connon) Thompson of Salem, Ohio, and Jason A. Chilcoat of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Vanessa, Alexander, Genevieve, Connon Jr., Liam and Paige.
