

He was born March 3, 1927, in Akron, was a former resident of Irondale. Mr. Summers was a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge in Irondale, OH, past president of the Ruritan Club in Irondale and member and former trustee of the Irondale Methodist Church. George was also a member of Valley of Steubenville Scottish Rite, the Eastern Ohio Teachers Association, the Retired Teachers Association of Ohio and Knight of the Golden Horseshoe. Mr. Summers was an avid golfer and member of Dyer Country Club.He retired from the Jefferson County School Board. George married Elizabeth Matthews on January 3, 1959 in Waynesburg, Penn; also surviving is his daughter, Troy (Michael) Kucera; grandsons, Zak, Max and Nate; niece, Patricia Tripp; nephew, Richard Edgar and several other nieces and nephews; godchildren, JoAnn Stagani, Mark Lautzenheiser and Kay McNutt; best friends, Ray and Yvonne Lautzenheiser and associate, Ned Woolums He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lou Summers; and brother, Robert Summers. Memorial Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Interment will be at Chester Township Cemetery. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Mayfield Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chesterland, OH 44026. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to West Geauga Gridiron Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 203, Novelty, OH 44072 or Irondale United Methodist Church, 75 Grand St., Irondale, OH 43932.
